Behind the Scenes: Our New Hand-carved Kenyan Cattle Horn & Bone Toggles
Posted on 28 September 2016
We collaborated with Kenyan artisans to produce new elegant, sturdy cattle horn zipper toggles for Kempton & Co.'s Fall/Winter 2016 Collection.
All work is done entirely by hand in Kenya with simple tools and machinery, using up-cycled cattle horn gathered from local farms.
We designed with the cattle horn toggles with Kenyan artisans to create pieces with Kempton & Co. signature look and feel, while building strong, working partnerships.
The small artisan groups we work with live mostly in Kiberia, one of the poorest urban sections of Kenya's capitol city, Nairobi.
Each toggle is unique--yet all pieces cohere with the streamlined design of our Fall/Winter 2016 line.
Kempton & Co.'s Rough Night handbags feature the new Kenyan cattle horn toggles (above), as do our Royal Frolic clutches (below).
