While Kempton & Co. bags, totes, clutches and more are sold internationally, our entire business--from creation to sales floor--has always been based in Brooklyn.

We handmake our leather bags, clutches, and pouches in our Red Hook, Brooklyn studio. And our flagship (and only) Kempton & Co. shop is right around the corner, on Red Hook's main drag: Van Brunt Street. We keep things local because we love Brooklyn--and we're obsessed with quality control!

 

NEW YORK BORN AND BRED

Our buttery-soft leather comes from upstate New York. We use cowhide in its naked form to preserve the skin's oils and provide a rich natural feel. 

Our brass hardware holds up to hard wear and varnishes over time, giving Kempton & Co. bags their signature vintage look.

  

HANDS-ON

Everything is to hand: cutting utensils, sewing machines, strap cutters, an ironing station, and shelves of materials, organized by zipper, clasp, buckles, tassel, rivets and so on.    

   

UPCYCLE CHIC

 

 

Some of our most popular bags are made with vintage canvas textiles. After selecting the canvases, we clean and repair each batch. The unique markings and naturally distressed material mean that no two bags are ever the same.
